We started out this morning driving one hour in snow and slushy rain to watch our ten year old granddaughter compete in cheerleading acrobatics. She was fantastic and her squad won. No surprise. They were dynamite and she was spectacularly cute and happy to see so many family members there to watch. Oh gosh, I sound like a too proud Grandmother, I’d apologize… except sometimes it just happens! Her fifteen year old sister’s soccer team made it to district play-offs and finished the season with 18-1 record. Not bad. Our sixteen year old grandson works everyday after school and just made the high honor roll again. He’s very focused on a straight arrow plan for his future. Our twenty four year old newlywed granddaughter and I spent a fun day together last week, first time we’ve hung out like that in quite awhile. Okay, I promise, no more Granny chatter!

Also I only have three more papers to write for the Master’s Course I’m enrolled in. I’ve enjoyed it and learned so much. Then I’ll be on official break from classes until January when the next one starts.
But then I still have two larger independent writing submissions to complete before the end of November. That won’t be too difficult since I know what I’ll be writing about.
Right now the hardest thing seems to be trying to nail down a time for Thanksgiving Dinner that will suit all family members. It’s pretty clear, that’s not going to happen, so we’ll have to try to find a time that will suit the majority. There are times that big families require a diplomat’s skill in compromising!
Our book for Book Club this month was ‘The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night’ by Mark Haddon. I’d read it it a few years ago and enjoyed it even more the second time around. Last week I read Lisa Genova’s new book, ‘Love Anthony’. This is her third book, and she’s three for three with this wonderful layered book. Both stories deal with autism from entriely different perspectives.
We saw two movies worth mentioning. ’Argo’ starring and produced by Ben Affleck, based on true story about the Iranian hostage situation back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. One of the best movies we’ve seen in years. And ‘Bernie’, starring Jack Black, (from Netflicks), very entertaining, also based on true story.
