Another month has come and gone, it has been a peaceful, more restful time with the hustle of the holiday season behind us. We were lucky in northwestern PA last weekend when the big blizzard blew its way east - way south of us. We’ve had a very mild winter so far, I’ve only had to shovel snow a couple times. Mostly the broom does a fine job sweeping our snow dust off the sidewalks. It just occurred to me that I mostly start my blog with comments on the weather…which reminds me of my dad. As a farmer the weather was always foremost on his mind, I guess this apple didn’t fall too far from the tree!
We watched Me, Earl and The Dying Girl last night. It was simple and poignant, one we will not soon forget. We’ve also been super enjoying Downton Abbey this year. And to think we did not start watching it until three years ago, shortly before the fourth season, we binged on the first three seasons of the show and were totally hooked. We’ve been watching some older movies for the second time and finding them entertaining, especially right before going to bed.
I’ve read several books this month, my favorites have been Sara Gruen’s At Water’s Edge. (Her Water for Elephants has been one of my favorites ever since I first read it.) David Poyer’s Tipping Point was also an exceptionally good read.
My Maternal Grandparents, a short story I wrote was published in Story Circle Journal last month. I am still waiting on good news about my novel. I rec’d another rejection today, but at least I am getting really nice personal rejections now.
Till next time, keep reading my friends.
