Seasons Come and Seaons Go…

The Christmas decorations are packed away. A Valentine heart hangs on our front door. Minutes to hours to days to weeks to months –seasons come and seasons go. I was looking at old photos a few days ago, an easy way to lose track of time and wonder, was I really ever that young? That thin!? And when did my babies become middle-aged adults with grown children of their own? In hind sight, it seems to have happened in the blink of an eye. A second grandson will be on his way to Japan with the Airforce by the end of February. Ten years ago his older cousin was there as a Marine. Only a fool would think they had all the time in the world. No one does.

This year my only New Years Resolution was to eliminate negativity from my life, well as much as possible. It is amazing how much better I feel without being absorbed by the negativity of others.

We went to a few movies over the holidays:
Unbroken
was excellent. I read the book a year or two ago and couldn’t imagine how it could adequately be made into a movie. Hats off to Angelina Jolie’s debut as a director.

Taken 3 was exciting. We really enjoyed it, it is better written with stronger character development than Taken 2, and we can easily imagine where a potential Taken 4 might go in a couple years!

American Sniper
was amazing. Having visited Baghdad between wars, I can vouch for the authenticity in the settings. my husband vouched for the Arabic dialogue. It was disturbing and thought provoking. When we left the nearly full theater, it was like leaving a very sad funeral, no one made a sound.

We watched Belle on Netflicks and loved it too. I recommend any one of these movies if you are looking for a good movie. We are anxious to see many more of the Oscar nominated movies. Our local Movie House is going to show all the Oscar nominated movies during the Independent Monday Night Movie series, starting on February 2.

And, of course, we are enjoying the long awaited return of Downton Abbey.

I have read a couple exceptional books. Lila by Marilynne Robinson  and The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls, both were beautifully written and unforgettable.

I had another book review published in the current issue of Writer Advice at http://www.writeradvice.com/hooked.html
My review of Sing in the Morning, Cry at Night by Barbara J Taylor is the third review on the list of reviewed books.

Till next time, keep reading my friends. Your comments are always welcome.

Later,
Ann
